Best Web 2010 is a unique and an innovative competition organized by the LK Domain Registry for the second time this year. It is an outcome of the highly successful competition “Most Favourite Sri Lankan website 2009” culminated with numerous accolades by all, the sponsors, winners and the participants with much enthusiasm and exuberance as the most popular event of the year.
“Best Web 2010” is a web-based competition providing an exclusive opportunity to promote and popularize the Sri Lankan websites and showcase the Sri Lankan web identity online.
The objectives of this competition are
◊ Popularize the Sri Lankan websites and in particular, .lk domain websites
◊ Increase the awareness and recognize good Sri Lankan websites. Recognize the domain owners and web developers
◊ Provide a platform to improve the quality of the Sri Lankan websites
Why you should take part in this competition
It is a remarkable opportunity to promote your website as this is the only national level website competition. Your website will be highlighted throughout the competition.
Award winners will get the opportunity to display BestWeb logo in respective websites. They will also receive an award and a certificate in recognition of the achievement.
Your website will be featured in our website “www.bestweb.lk” with a link to your website.
Taking part in this competition will give you the opportunity to impress your clients, impress your boss, justify your interactive budget, create an Internet marketing opportunity, and receive valuable feedback regarding the status of your own website development efforts

Eligibility
All public, private sector organizations and individuals, who have a local presence and possess a .lk website, are eligible to be nominated for the Most favorite Sri Lankan website competition.
Selection Criteria
The highlight of the most favorite website is the recognition for the use of language and will be selected for each language category; Sinhala, English and Tamil.
In addition there will be a cluster of “Best Special awards” for different categories as listed below which will be awarded through a selection process by a panel of judges.
The campaign will be in four phases
1. Phase I : Awareness creation
The LK Domain Registry will inform the .lk websites regarding the event. Website standards and selection criteria for the awards will be published via the website www.bestweb.lk
2. Phase II : Nomination
The second phase will allow the general public to nominate websites through the campaign website. Nomination period will be three weeks.
3. Phase III : Screening & Confirmation
The nominated websites will be reviewed by a panel of judges and the eligible websites will be directly contacted by the LK Domain Registry to obtain their confirmation to participate. Website owners can specify which award categories they would like to compete in by specifying their selection category under the terms and conditions agreement. This process will be completed within two weeks.
4. Phase IV : Voting & Selection of other awards
The fourth phase of the campaign is the voting, which will be for a period of four weeks. General public can cast their votes through the website. Each week the websites which have received least number of votes will be removed from the voting list. Voters can vote for their favorite website every week.
Another highlight of this competition is the give away of exciting gift packs for the Voters. At the end of each week five voters will be randomly selected and rewarded with gift packs. The evaluation for the other awards will also be done during this period.
Awards
The following awards will be given away at the ceremony
◊ The favorite Sri Lankan websites in all three language categories based on the votes will receive awards. Top 5 and top 20 will receive certificates in each language category. Selection for the following awards will be done only through the panel of judges. (Two merit certificates will be issued and the respective website developers will receive a certificate.)

◊ Best government website
◊ Best corporate website – A special package will be given to the participants of this category. A fee will be charged to be entitled for this category.
◊ Best SME website
◊ Best non profit website
◊ Best website Developer - award will be given to the developing company
◊ Best e-commerce website –The website should facilitate online transactions.
◊ Best entertainment website
◊ Best personal website (website dedicated for an individual/group)
◊ Best news website – online newspapers, e-news sites
◊ Best Social website
◊ Best advertising website (includes real estate, automobiles, etc websites)
