Laksala is the only state owned gift and souvenir boutique in Sri Lanka. Since its launch in 1982, this Government institution has now grown into a well-recognized tourist attraction among people around the globe. Their website plays a key role in reaching out to local and foreign buyers and giving proper exposure to the local handicrafts industry.
The website was the winner of the bronze award at last year’s BestWeb.lk contest, under the Government category. The team behind the website felt joyful about the achievement.
“Undoubtedly the award was a great motivator. The team rejoiced the achievement of the Bronze Award and was determined to aim for a Gold Award in the near future.”
Being a pioneer in promoting local crafts and souvenirs, tourists visiting the country have always made it a point to visit one of the Laksala outlets; at Thummulla, Fort, the National Museum or any other branch around the country, before heading back home.
“Thanks to social media, our award win received a lot of congratulatory and appreciative e-mails from local as well as foreign customers. The award has helped us in no small measure to further increase the customer confidence placed on us.”
Winning the award has helped Laksala further establish its name in the tourism sector. The award has brought in many benefits for the company.
“Winning the award generated greater brand recognition, increased sales, employee moral and enabled us to obtain third party endorsements. We are very happy with what the BestWeb.lk award has brought in for us.”
